Welcome Carlos and Mara!
Carlos López is a pastor from the Presbyterian Church of Mexico and is currently working with VIDA. He and his wife, Mara, are living in the Eastboro community and truly have a heart for this ministry.
They come to us from the Presbytery of the Pacific in Taxco, Guerrero, Mexico. Carlos has been a pastor with the Presbyterian Church of Mexico for twenty-five years. Most recently he was serving a church in the city of Taxco, but has also served both as Dean and President of the Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Mexico City.
VIDA extends a very warm welcome to Carlos and Mara and is happy to have Carlos working as the newest member of its staff.
ESL
English as a Second Language classes will continue through December. The program is open for both new and continuing students. Classes are held on Monday evenings, for begining students and Wednesday evenings for advanced students. Thursday eveining conversation exercises are for all students. All evening classes begin at 7:00PM and end at 8:20. Activities for children will be provided. Volunteers are needed to serve as conversation partners and to help with the children.
VIDA hopes to continue its ESL program in the fall. If you are bilingual and are interested in teaching classes, please let someone on the Council know. Previous experience teaching ESL is preferred.
